Healing of Feramorz L. Young on the Plains

During the journey on the plains, a brother was thought to have died, but after having hands laid upon him, he spoke and described a vision where he saw Joseph and Hyrum Smith and received a mission to the spirit world, subsequently requesting the brethren not to hold him back from that mission.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 43, No. 45, 7 November 1881, page 708):

I will relate an incident that occurred on the plains. A brother was taken sick, and he seemed to be dying. He was laid out, and the brethren gathered around him and prayed for him, and administered to him, but he seemed to be dead. After a while he opened his eyes, and he said, 'I have been in the spirit world, and I have seen Joseph and Hyrum, and I have received a mission to the spirit world, and I do not want you to keep me back from my mission.' He was very anxious to go. He had seen the glory of the other world, and he had seen the Prophet Joseph and Hyrum, and he had received a mission there, and he felt that he had a right to go and fulfill it. He was very much disappointed when he was brought back to life.
