Dorothy Duewell had been near the point of death for a year with doctors confessing their inability to cure her. Her mother called the sisters to wash and anoint her. Due to her extreme weakness, a loving hand washed and anointed over her heart only. Weeks later, while she was near death, more faith and promises were given through washing and anointing, and she began to amend from that hour.
In Their Own Words
“So Dorothy’s mother called the sisters in to wash and anoint—and lo, the heart, so weak, was so much overcome by even this welcome excitement that not a limb could be disturbed. So a skilful and loving hand washed and anointed over the heart only. Weeks later, Dorothy was able to have the sisters come, and although she then was enveloped in the very clouds of death itself, the faith, and promises which were given through the washing and anointing became to the sick one a staff and shield. She began to amend from that hour. — The Young Woman's Journal 10:3”
