Due to colds prevalent in Great Salt Lake City during the autumn of 1867, the Saints utilized the prayer of faith to heal their children, effectively staying the power of the destroyer.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 29, No. 52, 28 December 1867, p. 826):
Colds have been very prevalent in this city during the autumn, and many children have been sick, but the Saints have exercised the prayer of faith, and the power of the destroyer has been stayed.
In Their Own Words
“Colds are still prevalent, but through the prayer of faith in behalf of our children the power of the destroyer has been stayed. — Millennial Star 29:52”
