Brother P. M. Villesen suffered from a severe swelling on his head that had been operated on repeatedly, leaving a deep, painful wound. He had been under medical treatment for five months. After being baptized by President Adam Peterson in a rainstorm on May 18, 1903, the swelling disappeared entirely by the next day, and the wound was completely healed within two weeks without further medical intervention.
In Their Own Words
“May 18th, 1903. Mr. P. M. Villesen, with whom I have had several Gospel conversations, requested to be baptized. His head is fearfully swollen, closing his right eye, caused by a kernel which has repeatedly been operated upon, leaving a frightful wound of nearly two inches in length, and over an inch deep. At 11 o’clock at night, in a pouring rain, he and his wife were baptized, being confirmed at their home the same evening. May 19th. The swelling on Brother Villesen’s head has entirely disappeared. He and his wife are jubilant, and it certainly makes us rejoice also. (In less than two weeks the wound was healed, although the doctors had told him that it would be months before he would recover. They had treated him over five months. After his baptism he ceased using their medicine, and never again consulted them).”
