While on the run to escape arrest, Hans Sorenson dreamt he was forced through an express car containing a square yard of blood. He dodged the blood to avoid stepping in it. He interpreted the dream as a warning of danger regarding his fugitive status.

In Their Own Words

“I fell asleep and dreamed that I was taken by two men forward through the train into the express car, on the floor of which was a puddle of blood about a yard square. On entering the car, the men led me directly towards the blood, they walking on each side, so that I would in all probability step into it. For what purpose they were doing this I did not have time to determine, as all my powers were now in full use to avoid that which they strained every effort to accomplish. I jumped from side to side, or over the spot, without once stepping into it or soiling my boots with the blood... The dream seemed to me as a warning of imminent danger pending over my devoted head. — The Young Woman's Journal 7:4”
