In the St. Germain, Vallée de St. Martin mission, Elder George D. Keaton reports that the local Saints, though materially poor, have been blessed with an outpouring of the gifts of the Spirit, including singing in tongues and interpretation of tongues, and that the Lord is attentive to their prayers.
In Their Own Words
“The vivifying influence of the Holy Spirit is powerfully felt in our meetings. The officers are united, and feel determined to thrust in their sickle and reap while the day lasts. The Saints are also united, and such despicable things as back-biting, tale-bearing, &c., are not practised here. The Saints are very poor, in relation to this world’s goods, but are rich in the Spirit. The Lord is attentive to our prayers, and it seems as if the windows of heaven are opened to pour down blessings, by which means the hearts of the Saints are comforted. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are graciously bestowed upon us, and the hearts of the Saints are gladdened by singing in tongues, interpreting, &c.— Millennial Star 16:22”
