Fulfillment of President Ben E. Rich's Prophecy in Xenia

“Less than three years have passed since two of our Elders were escorted out of Xenia by a policeman, who declared that ‘Mormonism’ would never be tolerated in the city. When news of the expulsion from Xenia of these two Elders reached President Rich, he said, ‘I will hold a conference in that city before I leave the south.’ We have now realized a fulfillment of his words. On Sunday, May 14, 1905, a conference was held in the K. of P. hall, in Xenia, Ohio. President Ben E. Rich presided, and there were present Elders A. C. Hull, president of the Ohio conference, and several traveling Elders. The meetings were well attended, and the best of order prevailed. The people listened with marked attention to the testimonies borne, and the principles of the Gospel as taught by the Latter-day Saints were clearly set forth. The local press gave a fair report of the proceedings, and the prejudice that has existed in the minds of the people is being rapidly dispelled.”
