A brother, who had been afflicted with a pain in his arm for twelve years resulting from an injury sustained while putting out a fire, requested administration. Upon the ordinance being performed on September 29, 1847, the pain left him instantly, and he experienced no further sensation of it.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 9, No. 23 (1 December 1847), p. 367):
Brother William Atholl M'Master, of Dunfermline, had been afflicted with a pain in his arm for twelve years, in consequence of an injury he received while putting out a fire. He requested to be administered to, which was done on the 29th of September, and the pain left him instantly, and he has felt no more of it since.
In Their Own Words
“In a prayer-meeting, on the 29th of September, a brother, that was afflicted with a pain in his arm for twelve years, which he received by helping to put out a fire, said to me that he wanted the ordinance administered to it, upon which the pain that had troubled him for so long a period, left him that hour, and he has not felt any unhealthy sensation since. — Millennial Star 9:23”
