Brother Hewit Healed of a Terminal Illness After Being Administered To in Ilion, New York (1845)

Brother Hewit, a church member in Ilion, New York, had been sick for several years. Doctors had given him up, stating he could not live. Upon hearing the gospel, he believed and was administered unto by an Elder. His neighbors had challenged that if he survived, they would believe, and following the administration, he recovered to full health, though his neighbors still refused to believe.

Brother Hewit, of Ilion, Herkimer county, N. Y., had been sick for several years, and the doctors had given him up, and said he could not live. But as soon as he heard the Mormons he believed and was administered unto, and his neighbors said if he got well they would believe also; and now I am as well as any man, and they won't believe yet, and I testify to every man that I was healed by the power of God, through the administration of one of his servants, a Mormon Elder.
