Henry Walsh and Elder Joseph Wells held a series of meetings at New Brinsley. Following these meetings, a seeker requested baptism. Elder Wells performed the ordinance, which was notable as being the first time he had officiated in such an ordinance.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 48, No. 47, 22 November 1886, p. 747):

Elder Henry Walsh and myself have been holding meetings at New Brinsley, and last night we had the pleasure of baptizing one person, which is the first time I have had the privilege of officiating in that ordinance.

In Their Own Words

“The inside meetings were crowded each time, and, at the close, one applied for baptism, which we attended to the next morning. Elder Wells officiated, and, as this was the first one he had attended, he felt highly pleased. — Millennial Star 48:47”
