While serving as a missionary in the Indian Territory (modern-day Oklahoma/Texas region) in the mid-1850s, Henry W. Miller faced significant challenges, including widespread illness among the elders. Upon arriving at a specific location, he encountered Church leaders Erastus Snow and Horace Eldridge, who explicitly told him, 'Brother Miller you have come in answer to prayer.' This divine timing facilitated his subsequent assignment to assist in procuring oxen for the Saints' migration to Utah.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Life Story of Henry William Miller | Memories on FamilySearch):

On his return to Adams County in the winter of 1856 his journal of Feb. On reaching there he met Erastus Snow and Horace Eldridge who said :Brother Miller you have come in answer to prayer. We want you to go to Clay County, Missouri and buy oxen for the St. Louis Company". Several men had been sent there and had been unable to buy the oxen. He disguised himself as a Californian, he had a long bear, wore a red shirt, a revolver on one side and a knife on the other and bottle of whiskey in his back pocket. He was successful in buying 100 yoke of oxen which he turned over to Erastus Snow and John Taylor.
