During the summer of 1848, Thomas Grover's daughter, Jane, went into the woods near the Salt Lake Valley to gather berries with a young companion. They strayed from the group and were suddenly surrounded by a pack of wolves. Jane reported that they were miraculously protected from harm during the encounter, which she attributed to divine intervention.
In Their Own Words
“One morning we thought we would go and gather gooseberries. One of the little girls and I strayed some distance from the others. Suddenly we heard shouts. — Jane Grover, SUP Trail Marker Pioneer Stories”
