Heavenly Manifestations at the St. George Temple Dedication

During the dedication of the St. George Temple in April 1877, several attendees reported supernatural manifestations. As the dedicatory prayer was offered by Daniel H. Wells, witnesses described hearing the sound of a heavenly choir joining in the hymns. Others reported seeing a bright light or a 'cloud of glory' resting upon the building, similar to the manifestations recorded at the Kirtland Temple dedication. These events were interpreted by the pioneers as a divine witness that the Lord accepted the first temple completed in the Utah Territory.
