Artimesia Snow Woolley — Healing from Puerperal Fever

Following the birth of her first child, Benjamin, on April 9, 1868, Artimesia became dangerously ill with puerperal fever (childbed fever). Her condition deteriorated to the point where her family feared for her life. Her father, Apostle Erastus Snow, was called to her bedside in St. George to provide a Priesthood blessing. Artimesia recorded in her autobiography that as her father and other elders administered to her, she felt the fever leave her body instantly. She described a cooling sensation and a sudden return of strength, attributing her survival and immediate recovery to the power of the Priesthood and the intervention of God.
