Ole H. Berg: A Scandinavian Convert Who Gathered to Zion (1860s)

Ole Hendrick Berg (1840-1919) was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in his native Scandinavia, one of the many northern European Saints who, upon hearing the restored gospel, forsook their homeland to gather with the body of the Saints in the mountain West. His life and labors are preserved in a biography and autobiography held in the Brigham Young University archives. Like thousands of Scandinavian converts, he crossed the ocean and the plains to Zion, there to help build up the communities of the Saints. His emigration is a faith-promoting witness of the Scandinavian Saints who, having found the truth in the old country, counted it dearer than home and kin, and gathered to build up the kingdom in the tops of the mountains.
