Jack S. Bailey: A Latter-day Saint Writer on Faith and Human Suffering

Jack S. Bailey was a Latter-day Saint author and teacher of the Cottonwood Seventh Ward (Salt Lake Valley), whose writings sought to answer the problems of human suffering from a gospel perspective. In his book 'Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled: Answers to the Problems of Human Suffering' (Horizon Publishers, 1976), and in his ward history 'The First Fifteen Years' (a history of the Cottonwood Seventh Ward), Brother Bailey bore quiet testimony that the gospel of Jesus Christ offers answers to the hardest trials of mortal life. He also recorded, in the Ensign (1977), how the Lord taught his family a lesson in priorities through a flood and their young son Cody. His work testifies that faith can be made steady enough to meet suffering without losing hope.
