Elizabeth Brotherton recorded in her autobiography that during her journey from Britain to America as a new convert, she experienced divine healing of shipboard sickness. Her father, Heber C. Kimball, pronounced a blessing upon her that resulted in miraculous healing. Despite the hazards of transatlantic travel and the trials of the journey, she was preserved and healed. Later, her testimony records receiving a plural marriage to Parley Pratt and numerous other spiritual experiences in the restored church.
