Newel Knight documented a remarkable vision at the first Church conference on June 1, 1830. He recorded: 'I felt my heart filled with love, with glory, and with pleasure unspeakable. I could discern all that was going on in the room and a vision of futurity also suddenly burst upon me. I saw the heavens opened, I beheld the Lord Jesus Christ seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High.' This remarkable manifestation of the Savior's presence confirmed to Newel the divine nature of the restoration and Joseph Smith's calling as the Lord's instrument.
