Henry William Bigler recalled from his childhood a powerful experience of God's intervention. When there was sickness among his relatives, he would retire to a barn or other convenient place and pray on their behalf. Several times, he witnessed relatives who were sick suddenly restored to health in direct answer to his prayers offered in their behalf. These childhood experiences gave the young Henry a profound and abiding faith in the power of prayer and God's willingness to hear and answer the supplication of even the youngest of His children.
