Levi Hancock's Childhood Dream of the Savior — A Taste of the White Liquid That Cast Out All Fear

When Levi W. Hancock was about seven or eight years old, he had been discussing the Bible and the teachings of Jesus with his mother before bed. That night he had a vivid dream:

'I dreamed He came to me and said He was my Lord and presented me with a white decanter and said, "drink of this, it is for you." It appeared to be white liquid matter and when I tasted it, it ran through me like oil and filled me with the love of God until I felt so satisfied. It cast out all fear of death. I looked and saw a dark colored bottle in his other hand, and I asked him if he would let me taste of it. He handed it to me but I only took a drop for it was the most bitter of anything I had ever tasted or heard of.'

The experience left such an impression on young Levi that he later compared the taste of real bread during a famine favorably to every earthly thing 'save the sweet liquid of my dream.' He carried this experience with him for the rest of his life as an early witness of the Lord's reality and love.
