Zina D. H. Young was prostrated and sick after attending a Sunday meeting, but through the prayers and faith of the attendees, she was healed and restored to health. The account notes this healing occurred in the context of a testimony meeting.

The general board of the YLMIA often met to discuss their work, and their minutes record that the leaders frequently prayed and fasted for one another. In these intimate settings, they sometimes spoke in tongues and laid on hands to bless each other, demonstrating the deep spiritual bonds and charismatic practices that characterized their leadership service.

In Their Own Words

“Counselor M. Y. Dougall said, I could not go away without standing before you and thanking God for this privilege of being here, and acknowledging His hand in restoring me. Girls, no one of you can go away from this meeting, and say you have not had a testimony of the presence of the Spirit of God and the raising up of the sick unto health. I was prostrated after attendance at the Sunday meeting, but your prayers have been heard in my behalf, and I am healed. — The Young Woman's Journal 15:8”
