William Richards, President of the Swansea Branch, was working in a pit when the engine gear failed, causing him and another man to fall forty yards. He suffered a broken leg and severe bruising. A surgeon set his leg and dressed his wounds. Afterward, Richards called for Elders to administer to him, and he felt immediate relief and fell asleep. Two days later, Elder E. A. Richards visited him and administered to him again. The next day, the surgeon returned and was astonished to find all the wounds completely healed.
In Their Own Words
“William Richards, President of the Swansea Branch, was told by his employer to do a certain piece of work ; and, as he was descending the pit, the engine gear became disordered, and he and another man were precipitated forty yards, breaking his leg by the fall, and broising his body very badly. He was taken home by his friends, and a surgeon set his leg and dressed the wounds, after which he called upon the Eldets to administer to him, when he felt much better and he fell asleep. I went to see him two days after, and helped to administer to him. After we were through, he said he had no pain, and could get up directly were the bandages taken off. The next day the snrgeon called on him, and, to his great astonishment, every one of the wounds were healed. — Millennial Star 26:48”
