William Henry Deuel Sr. — Healing of the Facial Growth
Published August 31, 2026 at 4:40 AM
In his later years while living in the remote settlement of Escalante, Utah, William Henry Deuel Sr. suffered from a persistent and painful growth on his lip, which family records and DUP manuscripts identify as a 'canker' or suspected cancer. The condition was severe and caused significant physical distress. According to the family history submitted by Colette J. Liddell, Deuel sought a Priesthood blessing, exercising great faith in the ordinance. Following the administration, the growth reportedly disappeared completely, a recovery the family documented as a miraculous healing through the power of the Priesthood rather than medical intervention.
