W. W. Phelps's visitation from Joseph Smith after his death

“I want to say that brother Joseph came and enlightened me two days after he was buried. He came the same as when he was alive, and in a moment appeared to me in his own house. He said, Tell the drivers to drive on. I asked if the building was on wheels? He said, Certainly. I spoke, and away it went. We drove all round the hills and valleys. He then told the drivers to drive on over the river into Iowa. I told him Devil Creek was before us. He said, Drive over Devil Creek; I do’nt care for Devil Creek or any other creek. I told him the team was not strong enough to draw the building. He said, It is not the team that draws the building, it is the power of God. We drove on, and the building went as easy as a ship upon the water. We went into Iowa, and I saw the Saints in their tents, and they were all alive and well. I saw brother Joseph, and he looked as natural as when he was alive. I felt as though I could embrace him, but he was gone. I awoke, and behold it was a dream; but it was so real that I could not help but believe that brother Joseph was still with us, and that he would yet lead us to our inheritance.”
