President Lorenzo Snow relates the story of a young man who had wasted his estate in profligate living and was planning suicide when a supernatural being appeared to him. The being urged him to follow his counsel, promising that in two years he would govern a kingdom if he lived a moral life. The man followed the advice, achieved self-control, and realized the promise as a spiritual rulership over his own spirit.
In Their Own Words
“President Snow related the experience of a young man who had wasted all his estate in profligate living and was on the point of suicide, when a supernatural being checked him and urged him to follow his counsel, with the promise that in two years he would govern a kingdom. He was to live a strictly moral life, and his kingdom would be secured. Seeking honest employment, and living faithfully for two years, he found himself a ruler over his own spirit and desires. He was informed that this was the realization of the promise. — Millennial Star 58:17”
