Uncle Tom Duce, a pioneer who crossed the plains three times and served as first counselor to President Wood in the Alberta stake, displayed his twisted, gnarled hands and holes in his neck from thirteen bullet wounds received during his early life. Only two bullets were extracted, yet he survived and remained active in the ministry at age seventy-nine.
In Their Own Words
“Mr. Duce showed his twisted and gnarlcd hands and the holes in his neck, as a result of thirteen bullet wounds received during his experiences. Only two of the thirteen bullets were extracted from his body, so that he is still carrying some ten or eleven leads somewhere; yet he is a hale and hearty man, always alert to do a good act, and ever active in the ministry, for he is still serving as first counsellor to President Wood in the Alberta stake. — Millennial Star 86:37”
