Samuel B. Wallis's Miraculous Healing from Spinal Injury

“In the year 1904, while working at my trade, being a painter, I had the misfortune to fall from a ladder and injure my spinal cord, which rendered me entirely helpless. For the space of three years and a half I was bedfast and as helpless as a child. I was under the care of the best doctors in the district, but they could do nothing for me. I heard of the Latter-day Saints and their teachings, and I became interested in the gospel. I sent for the elders, and they came and explained the gospel to me. I felt that it was the truth, and I desired to be baptized. I was carried into the water by Elders Gwilliam and Humphreys, and baptized June, 1907, Elder Julian M. Thomas officiating. From the very moment that I had complied with this ordinance of the gospel I began to improve in health and through the administration of the elders and the blessings of the Lord I am to-day a well and happy man. I am now able to walk and attend to my duties, and I feel that I cannot do enough for the Lord in return for the great blessing He has bestowed upon me. I bear my testimony to the truth of the gospel, and I know that it is the power of God unto salvation to all those who believe and obey it.”
