S. W. Richards and Elder Snyder's preservation during their mission

While S. W. Richards and Elder Snyder were traveling over 5,800 miles during their mission express from Great Salt Lake City to the States, they were protected from potential harm and annoyance. Despite encountering troops and others who might have been hostile, their path remained clear and no angry heart was suffered to do them harm.

Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):

We have traveled over 5,800 miles, and have been preserved from all harm and annoyance. We have passed through the midst of troops and others, who might have been hostile, but our path has been kept clear, and no angry heart has been suffered to do us any harm. Every evil towards us has seemingly been blind, and no angry heart has been suffered to do us any harm, and we have been made as swift messengers that go forth from Zion, bearing glad tidings of great joy to all Saints, for our message has been received with great joy by the faithful Elders who, as watchmen upon the walls, can behold the dawning of the day.
