Following Elder Hintze's departure, Rigas Pofantis was troubled about the rejection of baptism by his companion Nicholas. In a dream, Pofantis was directed to read Acts 7:35, which refers to Moses being rejected by those he was sent to deliver. Pofantis interpreted this as a divine message regarding their need to accept the authority of the restored Church.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 68, No. 08 (1906)):

The mistake they made in rejecting baptism at the hands of an authorized servant of the Lord was shown to Rigas a short time after Elder Hintze's departure. In a dream he was told to read to his friends, Acts vii : 35. Suddenly awaking, he arose, took a pencil, and made a note of the chapter and verse, and the next morning when he went to his Bible he read: "This Moses whom they refused, saying, who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in a bush." The application was so plain that he could not mistake it, and he felt that he and his friends had been rejecting the authority of the Lord in refusing to accept the ordinance of baptism at the hands of His servant.
