Rhoda Bolton, a member of the Church for nearly a year, felt the influence of the Holy Spirit during a time when elders were being mobbed and treated with disrespect in Ripon. She observed that the mobbing was futile and found her testimony of the gospel and Joseph Smith as a prophet strengthened by this event.

In Their Own Words

“I never felt so much of the sweet influence of the Holy Spirit burning within me as I did then. May God continue to bless and protect the elders, and help them to progress in the glorious work in which they are engaged. How sorry I felt for those who would not investigate and find out for themselves. As I have said, I know that the gospel is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet sent of God. — Millennial Star 71:16”
