R. Skelton's Miraculous Preservation in the Crimean War

While serving in the Crimean War on the night of June 11, 1855, R. Skelton was struck by a Russian musket ball that dropped harmlessly at his feet. Later, the wind from a 32-pound cannonball nearly knocked him down while he was in the trenches.

Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):

I have to inform you that I had a very narrow escape of my life on the night of the 11th of June. The Russians made a sortie on our lines, and a musket ball hit me on the breast; but thanks be to my heavenly Father, it did me no injury, for as soon as the ball touched me it dropped at my feet, and the lead flattened. A few days afterwards, while I was in the trenches, a 32-pound shot passed so close to me that the wind of the ball nearly knocked me down. In fact, I have had several narrow escapes, but, thank God, I am all right so far.
