R. F. Stafford's dream of the Saints in celestial light

“Some months ago, in visions of the night, I stood in a strange town, and from two roads toward me, came a multitude of people, male and female, plainly clad in travelling gear; and as, with steady pace, they neared me, they bore no luggage, not even travel-worn umbrella, or staff; and round about each person shone a mild celestial light. I looked to see whence they came, and whither they were going, and I saw that they were Saints, and that they were journeying to Zion. I felt a desire to join them, but I had a small bundle in my hand, and I thought, 'I cannot go with them, for I have this to carry.' I looked again, and saw that they were still moving on, and the light around them grew brighter and brighter, and I felt a greater desire to go with them, but my bundle seemed to grow heavier, and I thought, 'I must leave it, or I cannot go.' I dropped it, and immediately I felt a lightness of spirit, and I joined the company, and the same celestial light shone around me, and I felt a peace and joy that I cannot describe. I awoke, and the impression remained with me, and I felt that it was a lesson for me, and for all who are striving to reach the Zion of our God.”
