During a conference in Hull, President Heber J. Grant spoke to the congregation about the reality of spiritual gifts. He shared that he had related several of his own personal experiences, which served as evidence that the Saints enjoyed the gifts of the Spirit in fulfillment of the blessings of the Patriarchs.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 66, No. 12, 24 March 1904, p. 187):
President Heber J. Grant spoke of the reality of the gifts of the Spirit, and related several of his own personal experiences, which served as evidence that the Saints enjoyed the gifts of the Spirit in fulfillment of the blessings of the Patriarchs.
In Their Own Words
“In the evening Elders E. Le Roy Harrison and Hugh C. Watson spoke, and then President Grant said, “the strongest knowledge anyone can have is from experience.” He related a number of personal experiences, showing that the Saints enjoyed the gifts of the Spirit in fulfillment of the blessings of the Patriarchs, or Evangelists. He closed by testifying to the divinity of the work of Joseph Smith. — Millennial Star 66:12”
