Elder Heber J. Grant bore a powerful testimony regarding his personal knowledge of Christ and His work, confirming that the spiritual powers, gifts, and promises associated with the Gospel are real and that he had obtained personal knowledge of their existence.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
I rejoice in the testimony that I have. I rejoice in the knowledge that I have that God lives, that Jesus is the Christ, the Redeemer of the world, the Savior of mankind. I rejoice in the knowledge that Joseph Smith was a prophet of the true and living God. I rejoice in the knowledge that every Latter-day Saint, every humble son and daughter of God that has embraced the gospel and become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has received the witness of the Holy Spirit; that the gift of tongues, the gift of prophecy, of healing, and other gifts and blessings, are found in the Church, and are enjoyed by the Saints of God today, just as they were in the days of the Apostles of old. I bear my testimony to you that these things are true, and that I have obtained a personal knowledge of their existence.
In Their Own Words
“The speaker bore a powerful testimony of Christ and His work, with all its powers, gifts, and promises, of the existence of which he had obtained a personal knowledge. — Millennial Star 61:18”
