Mr. Williams, a railway employee in Ogden, had his arm amputated after being run over by two railway cars. After the surgery, he experienced intense pain in the buried limb and could feel it was cramped. He instructed the physician to exhume the arm and reposition the fingers to relieve the pain. The physician complied, and the patient experienced immediate relief.

In Their Own Words

“On the 20th of August Mr. Williams, a railway employe in Ogden, was run over by two railway cars, receiving such injuries as to necessitate the amputation of an arm. After the operation was performed, the sufferer could not rest on account of pain in the arm that was buried. He told the physician to dig up the arm and straighten out the fingers, as they were cramped and caused him considerable pain. He even described the exact Position of the arm and finger. The physician moved the arm, placing it in the position directed by Mr. Williams, and since then he has rested more easily. — Millennial Star 48:38”
