Migo the Ute Chief's Vision and Conversion to Peace

Migo, also known as Elick, a chief of the San Pitch tribe, had been involved in hostile acts against settlers, including the killing of four brothers (Nelson, Luke, Read, and Clark). After subsequent peaceful overtures, he visited the Manti settlement in February 1854 and testified that he had experienced a dream in which the Lord commanded him to stop fighting the 'Mormons' and to make peace with them. As a physical sign of his commitment to this divine direction, he showed a ring he had fashioned on his arm to serve as a constant reminder of the covenant.

Migo, a chief of the San Pitch tribe, who has been very hostile to the settlers, and who was the leader of the party that killed the four brothers, Nelson, Luke, Read, and Clark, came into Manti, in February, and testified that he had had a dream, in which the Lord commanded him to stop fighting the Mormons, and to make peace with them; and as a sign of his sincerity, he showed a ring he had made on his arm, as a token of the covenant he had made.
