Manifestation of Spiritual Gifts in the Wigan Branch

During a fellowship meeting at the Wigan Branch, the Saints experienced the manifestation of the gifts of tongues, interpretation, and prophecy. This resulted in a time of refreshing and renewed faith among the members.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
Wigan, Oct. 7, 1878. President A. Carrington. Dear Brother, I am happy to inform you that the work of the Lord is progressing in this branch. We have had some very good meetings of late. Yesterday the Saints met at one o’clock in fellowship meeting, where the gifts of tongues, interpretation, and prophecy were manifested, and at 2.30 some strangers came in, and we had a time of refreshing from the presence of the Spirit of the Lord. We feel encouraged to press on in the good work, and hope to see more added to the Church. Yours in the Gospel, James L. Bunting.
