Lucy D. M. Allen, in a testimony recorded in the Woman's Exponent, recalls that her father and others were taken by a mob to be shot because they were 'Mormons,' but were delivered by the power of the Lord.

In Their Own Words

“I was married to Joseph Stewart Allen, in Lima, Hancock Co,, III.; passed through many of the persecutions and mobbing of the Saints; saw my father, with others, taken by the mob to be shot because they were ‘Mormons’; but they were delivered by the power of the Lord. — Millennial Star 67:28”
