Lorenzo D. Rupp reports that during his time as President of the Cheltenham Conference, he was preserved by the Lord from evil and remained free from misconduct, such as embezzlement or unlawful covenants.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 28, No. 37, 15 September 1866, p. 589):

Elder Lorenzo D. Rupp, President of the Cheltenham Conference, writes that he has been preserved by the Lord from evil, and that he has not been guilty of any misconduct, such as embezzlement, or entering into any unlawful covenants.

In Their Own Words

“I have not embezzled Church or individual means, but have ever sought to do the people good, and in this the Lord has blessed me and preserved me from evil. — Millennial Star 28:37”
