Joshua Salisbury's Fulfilling of Brigham Young's Prophecy regarding Dry Farming

“Wellsville, October 8th, 1904. I noticed an article in your paper referring to the commencement of dry farming in Cache valley. I heard of Brigham Young, at one time, while visiting our valley, declare that the dry benches and uplands would yet be covered with beautiful fields of grain, and having faith in his prediction, in the year 1875 I commenced to dry farm, as they call it, and had good success even at that early date, having an idea that where vegetation would grow, grain also would. I have continued to farm in that way ever since, and have been very successful, and I am pleased to see that the people are beginning to realize the importance of dry farming, as there are thousands of acres of land in this valley that can be made to produce good crops of grain without irrigation, if properly cultivated. I have raised as high as forty bushels of wheat to the acre on the dry benches, and I feel that the prediction of President Young is being fulfilled to the letter.”
