Joseph Leggatt, a long-time member of the Church baptized in 1854, celebrated his golden wedding anniversary in 1916. Throughout his life, he was baptized in 1854 at age eight, married Jessie Chalmers in 1866, whom he later baptized. Together they raised nine children who were all blessed by the priesthood and eight of whom became baptized members of the Church.
In Their Own Words
“Brother Leggat was baptized in March, 1854, at the age of eight years. He married his beloved wife on the 28th of September, 1866. She was then Jessie Chalmers. Two years later he baptized her. Their children, nine in number, have all been blessed by the Priesthood. Eight of them lived to receive baptism and become members of the church. — Millennial Star 78:41”
