Joseph Legat reports that his mother became suddenly and severely ill, exhibiting behavior that required four adults to restrain her. This state persisted through the night until two local Latter-day Saint elders, who worked in a coal mine four miles away, were summoned. Upon their arrival, they rebuked the evil power, anointed her with oil in the name of the Lord, and she was immediately restored to health.
In Their Own Words
“Suddenly my mother took ill. She became unconsciously outrageous, and it took the strained energies of four adult persons to keep her quiet. This eontimied a whole night and part of the following day, until my father was induced to send to the coal mine, four miles away, for two local elders, who worked there. On their arrival, she became quiet. They rebuked the evil power, anointed her with oil, in the name of the Lord, and she was immediately restored. — Millennial Star 78:3”
