Joseph Hancock, who needed his horse to go on a journey with the Prophet Joseph Smith but could not catch it, was promised by the Prophet that if he went after it, he would be able to catch it. Hancock went out and caught the horse immediately on the open prairie.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Young Woman's Journal, vol. 4 no. 7 (April 1893), p. 326):

Joseph Hancock, who needed his horse to go on a journey with the Prophet Joseph Smith but could not catch it, was promised by the Prophet that if he went after it, he would be able to catch it. Hancock went out and caught the horse immediately on the open prairie.

In Their Own Words

“The Prophet said to him that he wanted him to go along, and if he would go right after the horse he could catch it. Brother Hancock went out immediately, and had no trouble in walking up to his horse on the broad prairie, the first and only time he ever did. — The Young Woman's Journal 4:7”
