When Jonathan Crosby was seventeen years old, he got hurt and developed a serious sore on his side. The Destroyer, as Crosby refers to it, seemed to have claimed him, and the neighbors thought he was going to die. However, their Father in Heaven thought differently. By His blessing, Crosby's life was spared through medical treatment that the Lord blessed. Though he was not able to do much of anything for six months or more and felt the effects of it for the rest of his life, he was miraculously preserved to live and fulfill his mission in the gospel. This healing, though leaving lasting effects, allowed him to continue in God's work.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
When I was seventeen years old I got hurt and had a sore on my side. The Destroyer thought he had me then, and the neighbors thought I was going to die but our Father in Heaven thought differently. By His blessing my life was spared, not by the faith of anybody except that they had faith in the doctor who attended me. But the Lord blessed the means used, and I was restored, although I was not able to do anything for six months or more and I have felt the effects of it all my life.
In Their Own Words
“When I was seventeen years old I got hurt and had a sore on my side. The Destroyer thought he had me then, and the neighbors thought I was going to die but our Father in Heaven thought differently. By His blessing my life was spared, not by the faith of anybody except that they had faith in the doctor who attended me. But the Lord blessed the means used, and I was restored, although I was not able to do anything for six months or more and I have felt the effects of it more or less ever since. I can look back and see the hand of the Lord which has been over me from my birth, and has preserved my life for the great work of this last dispensation.”
