James H. Radley was struck with a severe, painful sickness around 1:00 AM. He did not want to disturb the elders at that late hour, so he drank consecrated oil and prayed to the Lord to be healed. The prayer was answered almost immediately, allowing him to return to sleep until morning.

In Their Own Words

“Some time ago, about one o'clock in the morning, I was seized with a very severe spell of sickness. I continued to grow worse. I greatly desired that the elders might come and administer to me, but we did not like to arouse them at such an untimely hour. I remembered we had some consecrated oil in the house, so I drank some of it, and prayed to the Lord to heal me of my sickness. My prayer was answered almost immediately, and I returned to my bed and slept till morning. Quite un-expectedly one afternoon Elder Edwin C. Davies, one of the elders laboring in Birkenhead, called to see how I was. He found me in great pain. I asked him to administer to me, which he did, and while he was praying to the Lord to heal me, immediately the pain left my back and I was able to get up off the chair with ease, and I felt that I was healed.”
