Upon arriving in Bradford without money or housing, Elder Henry Cuerden prayed for and was guided by the Spirit to a place of lodging. Subsequently, while searching for work, he and his wife were led to a mill named 'Providence', where they secured employment after an encounter with a man who became interested in his message.
In Their Own Words
“We were strangers in the town, without a sixpence when we arrived; and all seemed to look very dark; we had no money, no house, no lodgings, but I knew I had not come on a vain errand; no, we were directed to a place by the Spirit, and we got lodgings; and then we had no work. But one day, as we were walking up and down Bradford seeking work, we saw a mill called “Providence,” and we went to ask for work, knowing that Providence had sent us, and my wife got work; and I went to another place and got work, and we were soon comfortable, and I have been enabled to pay my way, and have something to spare for the poor, and to help the work of the Lord.”
