Healing of an unnamed wife of a Mormon Battalion member using olive oil

A man who had been a member of the Mormon Battalion and lived in Salt Lake Valley during the winter of 1847-1848 shared with the writer that his wife suffered excruciating pain from gallstones. She found relief by drinking pure olive oil, a remedy they kept on hand specifically for such attacks.

A brother who was in the Mormon Battalion, and who has resided in this valley since the winter of 1847-8, told the writer that his wife was once taken with such excruciating pain from gall-stones, that she could not endure it. They had some pure olive oil in the house, which they had kept for such purposes, and she drank a quantity of it, which gave her immediate relief.
