A young boy of about nine years old, the son of Brother James Barnes, had his arm broken in an accident. The account documents the manifestation of the healing power of God in his recovery.
Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 41, No. 13 (31 March 1879), p. 203):
A young boy of about nine years old, the son of Brother James Barnes, had his arm broken in an accident. The bone was set by a surgeon, but the arm remained crooked and useless. The boy was in great pain, and the parents were much distressed. Brother Barnes, having faith in the power of the Priesthood, requested the Elders to administer to his son. Elders John G. Jones and Thomas Williams visited the house, and after prayer, anointed the boy with oil and laid their hands upon him, rebuking the pain and commanding the bone to be made whole. The next morning, the boy was able to use his arm as well as he ever had, and the surgeon, upon examining it, expressed his astonishment at the rapid and perfect recovery.
