Sister Selina Rivett, a member of the Church near Stockport, had been ill for seven months with general debility and was pronounced incurable by her physician. She was twice saved from near-death states through the administration of the Elders of the Church. She eventually passed away, as the report notes she was 'appointed to go,' but her experience of being 'snatched from the very brink of death' is recorded as a demonstration of the healing power of the Priesthood.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 44, No. 23, June 5, 1882, page 362):

DEATH OF SISTER SELINA RIVETT.—We regret to record the death of Sister Selina Rivett, wife of Brother Thomas Rivett, of Lane Ends Farm, near Stockport, which occurred on the 24th of May. Sister Rivett had been a faithful member of the Church for many years, and was highly respected by all who knew her. She had been suffering from general debility for about seven months, and her case was pronounced incurable by the medical men who attended her. She sent repeatedly for the Elders of the Church during her last illness, and upon two recent occasions was snatched from the very brink of death by the interposition of the healing power of the Priesthood. It was evident, however, that her time had come, and that she was appointed to go, and she passed away peacefully, in full hope of a glorious resurrection.

In Their Own Words
