Healing of Sister Sankey in India

Sister Sankey, the step-daughter of Brother Sankey in Chinsurah, was suffering from a severe illness described as similar to cholera. Brother S. A. Woolley and Brother Sankey anointed her with oil in the name of Jesus Christ and laid hands on her, and she was healed before they even removed their hands. She was subsequently baptized.

Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):

I went to look for a tank suitable for the purpose. On my return, I was walking in the compound, and felt as if I ought to go and see sister Sankey, who was very ill. I went immediately and anointed with oil in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and laid hands on her, and thanks be to the God of Israel, before we took our hands off her head, for brother Sankey laid his hands on too, before I anointed, the person healed. It was a very severe attack, similar to the cholera, but she was healed by the power of God, and was baptized, not the same hour, as I had to preach to a few afterwards.
